It is well known that self-adhesive labels are adhesive, and the labels are prone to bubbles and wrinkles when labeling, which affects the adhesion of the label and affects the aesthetics of the container, especially for transparent containers. . In order to achieve a better transparent packaging label decoration effect, PET-IML technology came into being.
The production principle of the PET-IML process is to first feed the in-mold label into the inner wall of the mold through the robot arm, and the temperature of the preform dissolves the curing glue on the back of the label, thereby integrating the label and the bottle to realize one-stop production of the finished product.
Using IML process technology, the labeling accuracy of transparent packaging is higher than that of traditional self-adhesive labeling technology, which can effectively solve the problems of traditional self-adhesive labeling, such as wrinkling, bubble generation, falling off, etc., and improve the brand image of the product. IML labels can also achieve rich decorative effects such as bronzing, 3D, and light change. As shown in the figure below, the transparent PET-IML label is matched with bronzing and 3D to achieve a visual effect that complements the entire package.

All along, the labeling process in the blow molding is two-sided or single-sided labeling, because the blow molding process determines the labeling method, the blow mold is half-open and closed, and the in-mold label is applied to the mold line. The area can not be labeled; and the current YUPO team and Jiangsu Vecta and Guangzhou New Standard jointly developed the injection molding of the 360o surround in-mold labeling process, which opened the innovation of the in-mold label.
Injection blow molding is a one-step process that is completed by wiring. First, the plastic is injection-molded into a bottomed hollow parison; then the parison is transferred into the blow mold through the core rod, the robot feeds the mark, and the air is introduced through the core rod to blow the parison into the shape of the model; After the completion, transfer to the discharge section and transfer through the conveyor belt.

The delaminable in-mold label material can be printed on both sides (the single surface of the bottle is preferably monochromatic, and the printing is small in the field). This material is similar to the composite of two layers of material. The surface of the bottle is transparent and the side of the printing is reverse. Printing, when attached to a plastic container, the outer layer can be uncovered, and the label on the inside of the bottle can not be opened. This kind of technology has the purposes of anti-counterfeiting, anti-smuggling, scratching, and authenticity.
Looking into the future, in-mold labels will launch a strong challenge to self-adhesive labels, and will gradually phase out paper in-mold labels, moving toward plastic labeling, and the market share will also grow.
