Using Pagemaker, you can create an advanced PDF file for easy directory navigation.
First step
1. First you must install Adobe's PageMaker 6.5, which is a tool for making PDFs! It is a document layout editing tool for Adobe's housekeeping. Powerful, you can typeset beautifully illustrated documents, which are suitable for large-scale document layout printing. Exporting a PDF file is just a small branch of its many features. I will take this out now and use it to make beautiful PDF files. At the same time, it must be noted that AcrobatDistiller is essential in the custom installation options when installing PageMaker 6.5. The key to its function is to convert PS files into PDF files.
2. Then, you must have a PostScript printer for PageMaker. The printer driver must contain a PPD file. (The PPD file provides information about the user's PostScript printer. It includes a list of printer-supplied fonts, paper sizes, optimized screens, and resolution capabilities. This information is provided by the printer manufacturer and reflects the most versatile configuration of this device. If you don't have PPD file support, you must find a manufacturer to upgrade your printer program. Having said so much nonsense, think about it and have a friend who specializes in buying PostScript printers? Is it okay without a printer? Obviously there is a way! In fact, the solution is very simple. (This is a shortcut that I spent a long time researching!) You can find a printer driver that supports PostScript in the new hardware of Windows98 installation. It can be installed in your system! You don't even need to have it. Any printer!! But which kind of printer supports PostScript? Tell you! The KODAK series is fine. (I use KODAKColorEasePSPrinter).
Second step;
Ok, get ready for the first step, you can start to make PDF files! For the sake of simplicity and simplicity, I don't add too much text or graphics in the examples. In fact, the operation of adding a text pattern requires you to be proficient in PageMaker, and its operation is not too complicated, and it is similar to other typesetting programs. I will focus on how to create a more complex file that contains multiple interfaces and can be navigated through directory creation.
1 Start PageMaker, file--new--The following interface appears; this is the text page setting interface. Note that I set the number of pages in the file to 5 pages and start the page encoding to 1. This is more important. When generating a PDF file, the start page must be 1 so that it does not cause coding confusion.
2. Then you can edit the documents you need in the PageMaker editor interface. PageMaker's editing capabilities are so powerful that you can insert frames of various sizes anywhere on the page. And move anywhere to a random location. You can easily insert graphics, documents, links and even QuickTime format animations in a variety of formats. How to make the most of PageMaker's powerful features to create a beautiful file depends entirely on your artistic ability. I will not introduce the specific operations of PageMaker. The friends who need it can refer to the relevant instructions. I am still going to talk specifically about our specific problem - how to create text with a directory index. Now, for convenience, we have created a document with five pages. The first page we vacated as a directory guide page. Suppose we start editing the document from the second page. We first select the second page, draw a rectangular box with the area tool, and then use the text input tool to position in the box, enter the text 1LEVEL. Then select the rectangle as a whole, copy one, and paste it on the third, fourth and fifth pages respectively. Finally edit the text box separately and change it to the corresponding title. After the title is edited, you can insert various texts, graphics, and even animations in other places, depending on your personal preferences.
3. Next is the key to the entire search catalog design!!! Our goal is to automatically generate a directory that can be hyperlinked. Now let's set it up. First select type--paragraph to set the paragraph properties. Be sure to check the "Includeintableofcontents" where the mouse points, and allow it to be added to the directory (emphasis!). Then we select type→definestyles to edit a paragraph style. You can design a new style based on your own requirements for the title paragraph, or you can edit a new style. The main thing is to select the paragraph option when editing, and the same option "Includeintableofcontents". Finally, we need to select each title box in turn. Be sure to insert the text edit input point in the title box and select type--style--"the paragraph style you edited". (For convenience, I chose Handle in unison.)
4. Now we can automatically generate the title directory! Select Utilities--CreateTOC(CreatetableofContent). Select the properties of the directory in the dialog below. You can define the name of the directory and the page number that does not require the title. We select Pagenumberafterentry to compile the page number after the directory reference. Select the first page and place the directory box in the appropriate place. If nothing else, you should see the directory below. (Okay, our editing work is over, remember to archive! You can take a break, drink saliva, then go to the next section and finish exporting PDF files.
third step;
You're done! Before you can output the PDF text, you can set the properties of the printer, and you won't be introduced one by one. Select file→export--adobePDF, you will see the following dialog box; here you can set the properties and output control of the PDF file, the options are relatively simple, mostly related to the font, control and print page properties, you can according to yourself The preferences need to be set. We checked includedownloadablefonts to allow the included fonts to be downloaded. Select distillnow to convert immediately. Select viewPDFusing, specify what to open to open the generated PDF text, here we set up to adobeacrobat4.0 set up, click export to start conversion. PageMaker will automatically convert the edited page into a PS file of postscript, then start distiller to convert the PS file into a PDF file, and then automatically open the generated PDF file for browsing. You can look at the effect of the generated file. A PDF text with a complete directory index is generated. Click on the directory in the search window or browse window, 1level will link to the corresponding 2 pages!! 1,2,3! Convenient and fast, a more complicated PDF text is ready. How about, catalogue introduction, full-featured, different!
