1. Paper

Paper coatings with high print quality requirements are thicker, finer and more expensive.

Due to the paper coating, the paper must be selected when using the gravure printing process. Otherwise, the dot transfer is incomplete. In addition to the high-gloss dot, it is not easy to print. The middle adjustment area or the flat screen is also prone to small white spots. The use of electrostatic ink absorbing devices on the gravure printing machine can solve the problem of dot transfer, but the printing on the ground is not uniform, and the characteristics of the surface fiber are deep and shallow.


The offset printing process also needs to select paper. If the coating quality is slightly poor, the viscosity of the ink itself during high-speed printing may cause the ink film to be anti-adhesive to the paper, and it is necessary to add a viscosity reducing agent to the ink to avoid. If the surface of the coating is too loose, the dust is easy to precipitate, and the frequency of stopping the rubbing and wiping the blanket is obviously increased.


The flexo printing basically does not pick the paper, no matter the thickness of the coating, it can be dealt with the printing plate of different hardness; the flexo printing uses the liquid ink, the cohesion of the ink itself is not high, and the ink film is not damaged due to the excessive viscosity. The flexo prints the ink by pressing the surface of the printing plate, and the ink forms an ink film by the permeation absorption of the capillary pores of the paper under the action of the positive pressure received by the printing plate. Therefore, even if the coating is thin and the quality of the paper is poor, there is often no reason for returning the goods in the flexo. Flexo claims to print almost all materials, of course, this does not rule out advertising factors, but flexo printing can "eat coarse grains" without having to deliberately pick paper, which is beyond doubt.


The adaptability to different quality papers makes flexo take the lead in controlling paper prices. With this one alone, flexo printing is slightly better in controlling the cost of printed matter. This is also the case. The price of the paper roll required for flexo preprinting is significantly lower than the price of the paper roll required for gravure preprinting. Because of the weight of paper prices in flexographic preprinted products, the advantages of flexo printing are evident in the quotation of individual products.


2. Plate

The high cost of the edition is a plague brought by flexo. This is because we have no domestically produced flexo version more than 10 years ago, and basically all flexo versions rely on imports. Imported plates cannot be sold at high prices. In recent years, the market expansion of the domestic flexo version has stabilized the price of the flex version, but the obvious price difference between the thin plate and the thick plate has affected the competition of different processes in the cost of the plate. In the soft-printing world, when it emphasizes its own advantages, it always likes to say that the printing plate has a printing durability. Compared with offset printing, flexographic printing has an advantage in printing durability. However, the market has changed, and the short-term and single-day increase has not been so large. There is no demand for the printing durability of the printing plate, and the flexo printing loses its advantage in this respect. Using the PS version of the web offset printing into the carton pre-printing market, the challenge is the flexo printing fee.


3. Other consumables

In addition to paper and plates, the cost of flexo printing in consumables is primarily ink. Flexo preprinting uses paper ink, which is not costly. However, the double-sided tape used for flexo printing is an important aspect of the cost of flexographic preprinted consumables. Because of the buffering of the inking pressure or the printing pressure during the flexo printing process, the flexo printing process uses a double-sided adhesive of a foam structure.
