1, how to identify the quality of the ribbon
To identify the quality of the ribbon printer, the quality of the ribbon is mainly from the three aspects of the belt base, joint weld and ink.
1) Ribbon base
Generally speaking, the ribbon base of the ribbon is woven from nylon yarn, and its quality directly affects the service life of the ribbon and the ability of the ink to adhere and penetrate. The printing ribbons currently on the market are classified into nylon 6 and nylon 66, the difference being that the chemical composition of the nylon is different. Nylon 66 is better than nylon 6 in elasticity and durable. The well-known brand ribbons on the market generally use nylon 66 as the base. Nylon 66 is divided into four types: low density, medium density, high density and high density. The higher the density, the more the warp and weft number, the better the elasticity; the 13MM bandwidth, 1CM belt length, for example, high density belt After 98-100 weaving, the weft number is 44 weaving; the high-density twisting belt is 105-107 woven, and the latitude is 47 weaving. When we look at the leucorrhea base, it can be clearly distinguished, but it is not easy to distinguish after dyeing. The high-density twisting belt has a single weave in the warp and weft, which is more durable and has a strong elasticity. The long-term printing belt has no hair, no lines, no leaves. The surface of the good belt base is flat, and there is no protruding fiber knot. The warp and weft density is even and tight, the cutting edge is straight and uniform, and there is no scorch phenomenon. Touch by hand: The base is soft and delicate, and has a smooth feeling. It has good elasticity and good recovery. The bad belt breaks the wire very hard, the hand feels hard when touched, the cutting edge is uneven, and the side is burnt. When pulling, the elasticity is small, the restorability is poor, and the printing is often entrained; when the base is hit to 60,000 characters per meter, the hair is raised, and the edge of the lotus leaf is generated, which causes the needle to be stuck and the phenomenon of the cassette. In general, it should be selected to use high-density nylon 66 woven, high-density tape base with a warp and weft density of more than 130 lines per cm, and a fiber state of no wrap, no lint, and no deformation. When selecting the ribbon, you can view the ribbon against the light. If the light is not transparent, it is a high-density belt. The quality is better. If the light can be transmitted, it indicates that the density of the base is not up to standard. Due to the ribbon of this low-density nylon yarn, the print quality will naturally be greatly reduced.
2) Ink
Of course, the ink is also very important. The good ink particles are small, do not cause pinholes, have good fluidity, have a very uniform pH value, are highly absorbent when applied, have good moisture retention, are durable and print color transitions. slow. Good ink, organic, non-toxic, non-corrosive, no odor, no sticky after dyeing, easy to dry. The bad ink particles are large, sticky and sticky, and the dyeing tape does not dry after drying. The produced tapes are very sticky, and the pinholes are easily blocked during printing, so that the needles cannot be flexibly stretched, and the needles are broken.
When choosing, we should know that the ink of the ribbon should be moderate, too much or too little will affect the printing effect. High-quality ribbon inks are degreased and do not leave visible marks on the fingers when touched by hand. The ink printing process of this ink is also very uniform, and there is no significant difference between the front and back printing effects. Some of the inferior inks we have seen are greasy when touched by hand, and the fingers are full of traces of ink. It seems that the ink is sufficient, but the color will appear when printing, that is to say Touching the paper with your hand will blur it. Inferior ink will not only cause poor printing, but it can also enter the print head between the print pin guide holes and solidify, block the print needle, causing the printer to not print properly, and may cause print head pin resistance in severe cases. Increased and broken the print pin, the parallel groove of the print pin is crushed, the print head drive chip or the ribbon motor is burnt out, and the like.
3) Interface
We know that the interface of a good ribbon is flat and narrow, the error is relatively small, the degree of hardening is very light, and the needle is not hung when printing; the interface strength is large and the tensile strength is also strong. The bad ribbon interface is wide and long, hard and serious, easy to hang the needle, and the needle is easy to break when hit here.
The basic requirement for ribbon joint welds is that the angle of the weld should be greater than 30 degrees, the joints at the joints should be smooth, without obvious joints or protrusions, and the fibril properties of the belt base can be maintained and normal and uniform. Absorb ink. The welds of the high-quality ribbons are welded using an ultrasonic welding machine, which is very effective in ensuring joint quality. The welds welded by simple hot-melt or hot-press method have differently damaged the fiber characteristics of the belt base, resulting in a double-joint joint with obvious protrusion at the weld seam, and the interface is not smooth. Often, the print needle cannot be retracted in time, causing severe wear, damage, or even break of the print needle. Therefore, the joint welds should be carefully observed when purchasing the ribbon.
Basic knowledge of ribbon usage
We will encounter this or that problem in the process of using the ribbon. Here we will summarize the daily use of the ribbon as follows.
1, do it yourself
In fact, it is not too difficult to replace the printing ribbon by yourself. However, the different types of needle-printing printers have different ribbon frames. Fortunately, their ribbons operate in much the same way. For example, the more commonly used LQ1600: First, open the top cover of the printer, you will see a black box (usually black) shaped like a clip, we call it the print stand, and the empty part of the middle is the print head. Remove the print carriage. Be careful to remove it from the end near the print head when unpacking. The print carriage can be easily removed. Then you can open the print carriage. Since the printer frame of different models is different in structure, its ribbon winding method is slightly different, so you must observe the winding of the original ribbon, otherwise the ribbon is very likely. Cannot rotate normally and cause printing to fail. It is necessary to pay attention to the two gears in the printing frame to be colored with the coloring tape, and should be parallel with them, otherwise it will cause the ribbon to shift with the rotation of the gear, and finally the gear can not be rotated. After the ribbon is installed, the print carriage can be returned to its original position and the ribbon replacement program can be completed.
2, a good way to extend the needle ribbon
In fact, as just mentioned, the ribbon is the main consumable of the dot matrix printer, then we have no way to extend the life of the ribbon in daily use, the answer is yes. Now take the printer AR3200 as an example to introduce several ways to save the ribbon. Of course, other printers can be used for reference.
1) Prepare two print ribbon cartridges and print the official document with a darker (newly changed) ribbon. Use a lighter color (used, but the base must be intact, otherwise it will damage the needle) ) The ribbon prints an informal paper or wax paper.
2) Fix two small pieces of foam with transparent tape in the ribbon exit position of the ribbon cassette, sandwich the ribbon between the two foams, and let the foam absorb some good quality printing ink, so as to keep the ribbon moist. , extend the use of the ribbon.
3) Using two foams with good quality printing ink, hold the ribbon exposed at the front end of the ribbon cassette, gently rotate the ribbon shaft, and add some ribbons that have been used for a while (with the base intact). Ink (the whole ribbon should be added, otherwise the color will be different when printing), then open the ribbon box and let the inked ribbon cool (or add a small amount of gasoline in the ink). Try it first. The page informally distributes the ink evenly. Print the official draft again.
4) Develop the habit of adjusting the distance between the print head and the paper according to the thickness of the paper. The principle is that it can be large and large, as long as the printing effect is satisfactory. For new ribbons, you can also adjust the distance when printing thin paper, because the color is thicker to ensure print quality.
5) Remove the ribbon when printing wax paper. At this time, do not directly print the wax paper to prevent the wax from melting into the pinhole. Most wax papers are provided with transparent paper, which can be printed on wax paper.
6) Sometimes the print ribbon cassette is not working properly, and the print pin repeatedly prints a certain part of the ribbon, causing the color to have a “hole”. At this time, the ribbon cassette should be opened first to check whether the gear and the metal card are in series. Part of it is caused by the card card is too loose). For the damaged ribbon, the hole portion can be cut off and then "welded". The "welding" method is simple: align the interface and slightly overlap, and stick it with a transparent thin tape on the inside (note: on the inside). If you are afraid of breaking, you can use the thin line in the left and right direction at the upper and lower interfaces. Needle (usually only the middle section of the ribbon).
According to the quality of the ribbon and the specific conditions after printing, the above method is adopted, which generally increases the usage time of one ribbon by 1.5 to 2.5 times, which greatly reduces the consumption of the ribbon.
Ribbon common faults and solutions
When using a dot matrix printer, the most common one is ribbon failure. Take the EPSON LQ series of dot matrix printers as an example to introduce and solve several printer ribbon failures.
1) Ribbon breakage - The tension of the ribbon is too large, and the broken stitch or the hammer is broken to cause the ribbon to break. In the former case, the broken portion can be cut off and re-sealed; in the latter case, the ribbon can be replaced.
2) The ribbon is stuck - the edge of the ribbon is unthreaded, and the ribbon wheel is easily caught after the hair is raised, causing the ribbon wheel to be jammed, and the ribbon cannot be properly retracted into the ribbon cartridge. The solution is: first open the printer cover, open the ribbon arm and the hammer row interlocking handle, gently pull the ribbon back at the tape end of the ribbon cartridge, and then interlock the ribbon arm with the hammer row. The handle, turn on the power, the ribbon will be loaded back into the ribbon cartridge after the machine is self-tested.
3) Ribbon drive wheel drive belt wear or break This fault is caused by the drive belt being used for too long or the character chain friction drive belt. The solution is to adjust the position of the character chain so that it does not rub the drive belt; if it has been broken, please replace it.
3. The ribbon motion sensing signal is interrupted. Check if the ribbon motion sensing signal line is damaged. If it breaks, please replace the signal line.
