Developers that rinse CTP plates are "instant-use" and concentrated, and their respective advantages are described here and their role in achieving high quality CTP output.

Strict control of the CTP system's development parameters is critical to the successful replication of high quality dots compared to conventional prepress systems. Printers can use two types of CTP developer: "instant use" and concentrated. They have different strengths and weaknesses and should be considered.

"Instant-use" developing solutions are usually produced using pure water and strict requirements for raw materials. At the same time, each batch of developer product undergoes rigorous quality control and inspection. The clear goal of the “ready-to-use” developer is to output high-quality, stable dots on the plate as much as possible, ensuring that the plates work stably in the pressroom and ultimately exceed the expectations of the print buyer. One of the obvious drawbacks of such pre-formed developers is the higher cost and larger volume.

The concentrated CTP developer has the advantages of being small in size and inexpensive compared to the "instant use type". The disadvantage of concentrated CTP developer is that it must be mixed with water prior to use, and the quality and stability depend on the quality of the water available locally. Whether the printer can provide suitable water has a great influence on the quality of the printing plate. In most cases, these waters are not clean enough to be used in the preparation of the developer, and even the sanitary water provided will change for a variety of reasons. The development quality of the concentrated developer depends on the arrangement ratio, that is, whether it can be accurately proportioned according to the dilution ratio required for the water and the developer. If these ratios are not followed, problems will arise. Improperly configured or contaminated CTP developer cannot flush out the correct, dry 'net plate. You won't find the plate problems until you get on the machine, which can lead to downtime that we don't want.

Although the concentrated developer reduces part of the transportation and storage costs, if the cost associated with each type of developer is averaged to one year, and other related problems of the concentrated developer are taken into consideration, then the plate stability is obtained. To ensure that the added cost of using a ready-to-use developer is value for money. Experts suggest that when purchasing a concentrated developer, the cost of the developer should not be higher than 7% of the total cost of the printing plate in the current year, and avoid mistaken storage.
