The screening method has formed a rational grid, an unreasonable grid and a composite grid from the initial photographic screening to the current laser electronic screening.


First, AM screening (SAM)


The AM screening technology is based on the center element of the grid. The center distance of the two adjacent dots is constant. The arrangement of the dots follows a certain rule. The shape of the dot is an artificially designed point. The size of the pixel value controls the size of the dot area. When the number of screen dots is constant, the size of the dot is changed to express the depth and lightness of the image hierarchy.


The computer amplitude modulation screening is basically the same as the electronic color separation machine screening technology. Fine adjustment of dot shape and dot shape adjustment algorithm is a difficult point in AM screening technology.


In short, due to the regular distribution of the dot, it is determined that the amplitude modulation screen is easy to produce interference fringes when multi-color overprinting, and the screen angle of the color separation plate must be strictly controlled.


Second, FM screening (SFM)


The FM screening technique is to use some particle ideas as independent pixel units. They are randomly distributed in a specific unit area, and their areas vary depending on the calculation method.


Compared with AM screening, FM screening has many advantages. In the fields of offset printing, flexographic printing, news printing, etc., it has excellent development prospects. However, due to the small inking point of the FM network, the paper has high requirements on the suitability of paper, ink and equipment, and there are problems in popularization and application.


Third, high fidelity true color screening technology


In order to further improve the printing process level, improve the resolution of printing equipment, give full play to the advantages of computer plate making technology, and fundamentally improve the quality of print reproduction. This led to the development of high-fidelity true color screening technology. High-fidelity outlets are a new standard for FM site technology and a purely software approach. High-fidelity true color uses FM dots, using more than four-color separation technology, and has significant improvements in color reproduction range, print density, sharpness, and hierarchy compared to four-color screening technology. High fidelity screening technology is the mainstream of future screening technology.
