The self-adhesive label as a printed material has a structure which is composed of three parts, namely a surface material, a binder and a base paper. The surface material selected for the self-adhesive label must be based on the environment in which the label is used and the manner in which it is handled.
Then the sticker surface material is the material that receives the printed image on the front side and the adhesive on the back side and finally applied to the object to be pasted. The face material should be able to adapt to printing and printing, have good ink repellency, and have sufficient strength to accept various processing such as die cutting, waste discharge, slitting, punching and labeling.
In general, any material that can be flexibly deformed can be used as a material for self-adhesive materials, such as commonly used paper, film, composite foil, various textiles, thin metal sheets and rubber. The type of facestock depends on the final application and the printing process.
Some materials are designed for extreme environmental conditions, while others tend to be short-term, one-time indoor applications. Therefore, the current self-adhesive label printing began to use green printing materials with low pollution and low waste, and most of the printing methods began to develop toward the main green printing methods such as flexo printing.
Described below are some commonly used surface materials for label production.
Rubber Slurry Material: A strong, flexible material that is well suited for curved or cylindrical surfaces. The rubber slurry in the material seals the surface of the paper so that dust and fibers do not spread. This is especially important for tape labels, which were originally designed for this purpose.
Printed material: It has good ink absorption and is suitable for scanners. Printed materials are known for their clean surface and are the best choice for high quality images and bar code printing.
Anti-blocking material: It is a kind of rough and rough paper with good anti-dirty properties and is suitable for uneven surfaces. This material has a long lasting strong viscosity and is often used as a price tag for retail goods.
Casting coating material: It is a high-gloss pure white printing paper, mainly used for advertising and packaging labels. Be very careful when applying coating materials on your computer, as the ink may cause stains.
