Color management may be faced every day in the production process of everyone, just how to set the problems in the previous process, such as the choice of tools, and the choice of color, etc., and the focus we put here is How to easily manage color in the whole workflow.


First of all, let's start with an architecture of color management in the printing factory: We actually did an experiment this time, the tools used include:

Under such an architecture, we produce a printed color management process.


(1) It is the most important in the whole color management process, and the last goal that color management wants to achieve is the final printed matter, so we must first do Printer Profile (printer color description file) for this part, why We need to do the Printer Profile first. Because we want our color simulation object to be based on the final delivery of the print, we will have a basis for the Printer Profile. Therefore, in the entire color management process, the color description file of the printer must be You have to do it first, then you can go forward and go ahead, and continue to deduct a parameter that you should get for each process. Therefore, the process we use is to use an electronic draft of IT8-7/3 to directly feed into the negative film output machine, make a printing plate or use CTP to directly make a printing plate, and use a standard printing condition on the printing machine. This printing condition is based on SID. (full ink density), and DG (dot expansion) to control, these two parameters must first set the common values produced in the general factory, in this setting to obtain the color description file of the printing press, In the original of IT8-7/3, there are 928 color blocks, which can be obtained by using a colorimeter to obtain the color description file of the printing machine.


(2) In addition, we use the inkjet proofing machine to directly make the proofing of the printing machine in the simulation printing machine. In this part, we must first make a "linear correction" in the SID and DG parts of the inkjet proofing machine. Let the inkjet proofer conform to the color gamut that can be printed by our printing press. This "linear correction" is based on the commonly used values of printing production. Otherwise, the proof of inkjet proofing may not be possible by the printing press. The color of the print, after this process, we can get the Proofer Profile


(3) The screen is a basis for everyone to look at the file. We can use some tools to make the color description file of the screen. Its main structure is to use the light sensitivity of the LED to receive different color stimulus values through the filter. , Y, Z, generate a color description file of the screen, and record the color recording ability of the screen.


At this point, we only made a total of three color description files, recording the color recording capabilities of three different devices, including printing presses, inkjet proofers, and screens. After all three parameters are available, start a process of digital proofing.


(4) The so-called digital proofing is the use of the original digital file through the inkjet RIP, and this RIP must have the ability to input the source file and respond to the device's characterization file to the final print output. So the process of digital proofing is that you give it a source, give it a destination, it can use inkjet proofing to simulate the results of printing; the same inkjet proofing machine can do, the screen can also be done, as long as the destination It is the color description file of the inkjet that is converted to the color description file of the screen, and the result of printing can be predicted on Photshop.


(5) We can also use the interface of the browser to directly perform remote proofing of the file. The structure is to use the original printed file, reduce its DPI number, and use the remote screen to open the file, that is, use browsing. Interface, but currently only the Internet Explorer of the Mac operating system can be used with ColorSync under the Mac to do color comparison. On the PC, the Windows operating system can not do color comparison.
