In this regard, Wang Demao, executive vice president of China Printing and Equipment Industry Association, said in an interview with China News and Publishing News that China's printing industry is in the process of digitalization of printing technology, and digital workflow is applied in lithographic offset printing. A deeper change has taken place.


Digitalization from prepress to printing


Wang Demao said in an interview with this reporter: "On the whole, printing technology is developing in the direction of digitalization, whether it is the new results of computer direct plate making (CTP) technology released at this conference, or the digital work of printing presses. The process reflects the digital application trend.” He said that the Chinese laser photo-scissing system triggered a printing technology revolution and realized the typesetting digitization. Now the printing technology is developing digitally from the typesetting to the whole process of printing.


In fact, digital printing is a digital page provided by traditional xerography using digital typesetting, which realizes the digitization of the whole process of printing. The whole printing process requires no human intervention. Inkjet printing is such a typical digital printing. However, the digitization of printing technology is not only manifested in the emergence of digital printing. Wang Demao believes that CTP removes film and printing plates, which is actually the digitization of prepress plate making. When it is directly plated or automatically printed on the offset printing machine, it does not require direct human intervention, and the printing process is automatically completed under the control of the digital system. Offset printing can also be called digital printing, and other forms of printing such as gravure, embossing, flexo printing, etc. are also becoming digital, and can be digital printing. “Offset printing can be applied to digital workflows, which is a deeper change.” Wang Demao said.


When digitalization develops to a certain extent, the printing machine no longer needs direct human intervention and operation, and no one factory is born. But he also said that digital technology is just an information processing and control technology. The digital itself cannot transform the form of energy output. Finally, it depends on the electromechanical system to work. The digital system dominates and controls the mechanical system to complete the printing process.


UVCTP market share will increase


Compared with the development of offset printing and postpress digitalization, CTP prepress digitalization has a certain foundation in the industry.


In 2009, the sales performance of major domestic CTP plates and equipment manufacturers continued to improve in a challenging economic situation. From January to November of this year, the production and sales volume of CTP plates of the second film factory of Lekai Group increased by 73.5% and 64.8% respectively. As of the end of September this year, Hangzhou Kelei Electromechanical Industry Co., Ltd. in the Greater China market. Thermal CTP and the total installed capacity of the traditional PS plate-making machine (UVCTP) increased by 76% year-on-year, and the company has become one of the three UVCTP suppliers worldwide.


Zhang Huling, CEO of Hangzhou Kelei Electromechanical Industry Co., Ltd., estimates that the annual increase of CTP installed capacity in the Greater China market will be 600 to 800 units in 2009, and the UVCTP is in a different situation. It is expected that the market share of UVCTP will reach 15% in 2009. And the CTP professional plate-making center industry group in the region has begun to take shape, and this industry group will adopt UVCTP as the leading technology. At the same time, the sharp decline in the price of thermal plates will certainly promote the marketing of thermal CTP.


Zhang Huling said that in the global financial crisis, more customers pay attention to CTP with high cost performance and low cost of consumables, which will be a great opportunity for the company's business growth.


Offset printing workflow digitization


Some people in the industry interpret the digital printing process of offset printing as a digital system that uses computer network and information technology to realize the business resource management and intelligent operation of traditional offset printing under the support of an open standardized data format.

Postpress equipment tends to be automated and integrated


Li Li, chairman and general manager of Tianjin Changrong Printing Equipment Co., Ltd., said that post-press equipment should be developed in the direction of automation, high efficiency and substitution of labor, at the press printing exhibition (PRINT 09) held in the United States. The application of digitization and networking in post-press equipment has become a major point of view, but there are not many applications in this area in China. The digitization and automation of post-press equipment will be an inevitable trend.


In fact, the application and promotion of digital workflow has led the international post-press equipment manufacturers to develop the digital functions of post-press equipment. Digital folding, automatic matching, bookbinding, gluing, cutting, etc. have basically been realized. Computer digital management. Heidelberg and MBO have applied the CIP3 workflow to post-press processing to transfer information between the folding machine and the prepress and printing equipment via the network.


Li Li believes that the digitization and automation of post-press equipment is mainly reflected in the integration and integration of post-press work. At present, the multi-function and multi-station of post-press equipment has become a new requirement for printing and packaging enterprises. This integration not only shortens the process and improves efficiency, but also extends to the logistics field to realize the work requirement for one person suitable for multiple processes. The company has introduced multi-station post-press stamping, die-cutting equipment and other highly automated post-press equipment.


She also said that post-press equipment will also be moving towards intelligent direction, and intelligent quality inspection and product identification have been realized in the pre-press field. Intelligent technology is applied more in the label industry, and how to classify, identify and detect information in post-press equipment is one of the research directions of equipment manufacturers. Therefore, the introduction and popularization of relevant interfaces for post-press digital workflows will be necessary measures to comply with development trends.
