1. Printed bark cloth ornaments

(Chinese early production) bark cloth, there are two kinds of natural and decorative: the bark cloth of the original color is used as the material for the daily clothes; the bark cloth with the decoration is used as the clothing for the ceremony. There are two ways to make a bark cloth: painting and printing. Sometimes I add painting after printing. There are six kinds of techniques for printing bark cloth ornaments: openwork flower templates, embossed flower templates, carved wooden boards, small wood prints, wooden scrolls, and bamboo strokes. I will describe it separately.

(1) Hollow flower template

(Historical) The pattern of the hollow board, first fold the banana leaf or the pandolan leaves, cut the desired pattern, spread it, lay it on the bark cloth, and take a piece of bark cloth to capture the color, print Into the pattern. The use of small patterns is repeated to form a larger pattern. The area and unit of each pattern has a name.

Open the print, first boil the red pigment, turn it into a jelly and dark brown, then mix the lamp and bauxite. The openwork pattern is cut with banana or pandanus leaves and spread on the bark cloth. Lightly pat the lamp with a small cushion made of bark cloth, immersed in red, printed with a pattern of flowers.

The pattern of the pattern is separated by straight lines, and the lines of these lines are called the shelves. Print the first print frame, and then print the pattern.

(2) Yang pattern template

This technique of printing bark cloth is also known as the addition method. First, use a few dried banana leaves or pandanus trees and coconut leaves to form a bottom plate with a line of sand. The surface of the board is made into a pattern with a string or a rib in the leaf. Pattern. The text has geometric figures, but most of them are realistic graphics.

(3) Carved wooden board (original part of this section is missing).

(4) Small flower wood printing... Bark cloth decoration, in addition to hand-painted, it is also useful to print small patterns with wood printing. ... used to print on bark cloth.

(5) Rolling wood shaft

Use round sticks of two to four feet long, engraved into equidistant circles, or wrapped around a string, painted in color, and rolled into parallel lines on the bark cloth.

(6) Draw a line of bamboo pen It is said that the bamboo is cut into three-point pens and used to draw parallel lines.

The above six methods of printing bark cloth ornaments in the ethnology have existed in a number of places in the Pacific Ocean until now. The origin of bark cloth is very ancient. In South China, we have found many stone sticks made of bark cloth made by the Neolithic Age. At the same time, we also found stone or ceramic impressions printed with bark cloth. This proves that the printing technology (source period) has existed in the Neolithic Age! This of course affects the invention of later Chinese printing.

2. Plaque cloth is printed bark cloth

The name of Chinese ancient bark cloth, there are a variety of tats, Abu, Dubu... Many of these names are transliterated from the barbaric language, and there are also names such as bark cloth, suede cloth, and suede cloth. They are the names of the bark cloth. As for the spotted cloth or the plaid fabric, it is a bark cloth with decorative ornaments. The essays have been seen in the third century. Shen Ying’s "Land of the Sea", in which the records of the bark cloth, see the "Tai Ping Yu Lan" volume seven hundred and eighty order Dongyi article cited cloud:

Yizhou is in the southeast of Linhai, and goes to the county for two thousand miles.

The land is frost-free and the vegetation is not dead. Surrounded by mountains,

The mountains are housed. ...can do fine cloth and also make spots

Wenbu, portrayed inside, there are articles that think it is also decorated.

"Professional Waters" means "characterizes inside, and there are articles that think that it is also decorated." That is, it is printed on the bark cloth with a stereotype or a painting pattern, which is the meaning of the decoration. This is the earliest record of plaques found in Chinese literature.

As for the technique of printing on the plaid fabric, fortunately, "The Promise of the Sea" is recorded as "the inside of it, and there is an article that is decorated." We explain that it is printed on the bark cloth and printed or painted, as the meaning of the decoration. In the Song and Song Dynasties of the Southern Song Dynasty, the Ximan was "printed with a wax engraving", which was printed with a hollow flower pattern, named "Dot Wax", which is now the batik, Beyer It is believed that the geometric ornament of batik may be the legacy of the bark cloth. Until today, Chinese printed fabrics also preserve the ancient bark printing method. This shows that printing in China already exists, the difference is printing and printing.
