1. Printed bark cloth ornaments

There are two ways to make a bark cloth: painting and printing. Sometimes I add painting after printing. There are six kinds of techniques for printing bark cloth ornaments: openwork flower templates, embossed flower templates, carved wooden boards, small wood prints, wooden scrolls, and bamboo strokes. I will describe it separately.
(1) Hollow flower template
(Historical) The pattern of the hollow board, first fold the banana leaf or the pandolan leaves, cut the desired pattern, spread it, lay it on the bark cloth, and take a piece of bark cloth to capture the color, print Into the pattern. The use of small patterns is repeated to form a larger pattern. The area and unit of each pattern has a name.

The above six methods of printing bark cloth ornaments in the ethnology have existed in a number of places in the Pacific Ocean until now. The origin of bark cloth is very ancient. In South China, we have found many stone sticks made of bark cloth made by the Neolithic Age. At the same time, we also found stone or ceramic impressions printed with bark cloth. This proves that the printing technology (source period) has existed in the Neolithic Age! This of course affects the invention of later Chinese printing.
