The plastic film is a plastic product having a thickness of 0.25 mm or less. It has the advantages of light weight, transparency, moisture resistance, oxygen resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance and air tightness. As a printing material, it can print beautiful graphics.
1. Polyethylene (PE)
PE films are particularly suitable for the packaging of frozen products and the packaging of general chemicals. Although the treated PE film can be adapted to printing, the ink has poor adhesion and the color is not bright enough, and is generally inferior to the polypropylene film.
2. Polypropylene (PP)
Polypropylene film is one of the most widely used and most used plastic films.
Polypropylene film is suitable for food, textiles, paper products, pharmaceuticals and general chemical products. However, polypropylene film is easy to age and should not be used as a substrate for long-term outdoor use.
The polypropylene film has good printing suitability, and the color is brighter, finer and has better adhesion than the polyethylene film. Particularly suitable for letterpress printing.
3. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
Polyvinyl chloride film is inexpensive and widely used. The hard film and the soft film can be classified according to the amount of the plasticizer added at the time of film formation.
The soft film is suitable for packaging of textiles, fresh meat, and non-staple foods. The hard film is suitable for window sealing of packaging and box packaging for clothing, general chemicals and beverages.
PVC has good printing adaptability, especially suitable for screen printing, with good color fastness and bright and beautiful.
4. Polystyrene (PS)
The polystyrene film has high transparency and high gas permeability and moisture permeability. It is especially suitable for packaging of products that require “breathing” such as vegetables and fresh fruits.
The PS film has good printability, and can adapt to both letterpress printing and gravure printing.
5. Cellophane
The cellophane has high transparency and high tensile strength, because it does not shrink, has good heat sealing performance, and has good mechanical operation adaptability. However, due to high price, the use in recent years is gradually reduced.
6. Polyester film (PET)
Polyester film is a higher grade plastic film for packaging. Both the relief and gravure printability are good.
7. Ionic polymeric film
The ionic polymeric film is excellent in temperature resistance, oil resistance, and air tightness, and is non-toxic. It is suitable for packaging angular objects or heavy objects that are packaged in olives and is widely used in food packaging.
8. Nylon film (PA)
This is a more expensive plastic film.
The advantages are: colorless, non-toxic, transparent; high temperature resistance (1900C), low temperature resistance (-600C), and remarkable alkali resistance, organic deep agent, oil performance; especially strong toughness, high folding strength, It is not easy to pierce, and it is easy to stretch and form these characteristics after heating, which is difficult to compare with other films.
The disadvantages are: high moisture permeability, easy to wrinkle and deform after moisture absorption, and high air tightness in normal times, but the airtightness is sharply weakened when the temperature is increased.
9. Polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC)
This film is more expensive, but it has its own unique features in food packaging. It can effectively prevent the deterioration and weight loss of water-containing foods due to evaporation of water, and will not make dry foods absorb moisture, but also prevent fish and meat. Foods containing protein and fats are packaged in oxygen and high temperature sterilized foods. This film has good printability.
10. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)
Polyvinyl alcohol film, also known as vinylon film, has a higher specific gravity and is more expensive.
Suitable for food packaging and making plastic bags. Because it does not have static electricity, it has good printability.
