Xiangheng Packaging: The green factory carefully calculates the 'addition and subtraction,' with output value expected to exceed 200 million yuan

Recently, walking into Guizhou Xiangheng Packaging Co., Ltd. in the Guiyang Comprehensive Bonded Zone, rolls of paper spin rapidly on the production line, quickly pressed into corrugated cardboard with full flutes, and then cut and assembled, instantly becoming neat rows of packaging cartons.

On this busy production line, a silent green production practice based on 'addition and subtraction' is underway. With an annual production consuming 28,000 tons of raw paper, how to use production materials efficiently and environmentally has become a development challenge that the company continues to explore.

On the production line, paper rolls are quickly pressed into corrugated cardboard.

"These seemingly ordinary boxes hide our eco-friendly ingenuity," said Sun Qiang, the company's general manager, while holding up a freshly produced box. In the packaging industry, more layers in a cardboard box usually mean stronger compressive strength, but it also leads to increased paper usage and higher consumption of wood resources.

Faced with the dilemma of "ensuring quality" versus "reducing carbon and consumption," the company chose to practice "subtraction" through innovative design.

"We want to break the dependence on the number of layers in box production!" Sun Qiang confidently said. The company optimized the structure, changing boxes from five layers to three, while using high-grade corrugated paper to ensure compressive and bursting strength. This innovation reduced the paper used in each box by 20%-30%, achieving the eco-friendly goal of "lighter weight, stronger strength."

Tape-Free Anti-Theft Eco-Friendly Cartons

In another part of the process, the company continues to pursue 'subtraction.' In the R&D room, a carton without tape marks stands out. 'This is our tape-free anti-theft eco-friendly carton,' said Sun Qiang as he demonstrated the carton. Upon closer inspection, the journalist noticed that the top of the carton had no tape seal, and the bottom cardboard was cleverly embedded inside the box, achieving a tight seal purely through structural design.

'Previously, one carton required three to four layers of tape, but now we completely avoid using plastic,' Sun Qiang said. This carton, through ingenious structural design, entirely abandons the traditional tape sealing method, addressing both theft prevention during transport and reducing plastic pollution.

While vigorously practicing 'subtraction,' the company is also making significant 'additions' in resource recycling.

Waste Paper Recycling Track

At the other end of the production line, the waste paper produced during cutting slides along a preset track into a recycling pipeline, where it is accurately collected and packed through a closed system before being sent to a paper mill to be reborn. With this waste paper recycling system, the company achieves a 100% recycling rate, ensuring every sheet of paper is fully utilized.

Offset printing is the stage of carton production that causes the most pollution, as the high-concentration ink used generates harmful gases during printing. If not treated and released directly, it will pollute the atmosphere. At the exhaust gas treatment stage, Xiangheng Packaging has also implemented 'additions.'

A giant device, similar to a 'range hood,' operates above the offset printing line. 'This is our self-developed exhaust gas treatment device, which continuously draws in the harmful gases produced during offset printing and processes them internally, ultimately ensuring emissions meet standards,' said Sun Qiang. It is this device that has transformed the offset printing workshop, eliminating its former state of 'strong odors and heavy pollution.'

Exhaust gas treatment device similar to a 'range hood'

The waste paper recycling and exhaust gas treatment devices are typical examples of Xiangheng Packaging's twenty practical patents. Relying on solid green technology accumulation and innovative practices, the company was successfully selected as a green factory in Guizhou Province for 2025 and has become a carton packaging supplier for well-known companies such as Hisense, Wahaha, and Snow Beer. In 2024, it achieved a revenue of 175 million yuan, and it is expected to exceed 200 million yuan this year.

From layer reduction to tape-free design, from waste paper recycling to exhaust gas treatment, the company carefully calculates 'addition and subtraction' in every production process, making each carton a green product embodying environmental protection concepts.
