Codimag is a manufacturer of narrow-width label printing equipment in France. It has been engaged in waterless offset printing technology for more than ten years, and its technology level is in the leading position in the field of label printing. As early as 2007, Codimag developed the Aniflo Ink System, which uses anilox rollers for quantitative ink transfer. The ink layer is not only stable but also predictable (the principle is similar to Heidelberg and KBA's short ink system). The semi-rotary (intermittent) operation of the Codimag waterless offset press means that this device can print short runs without the need to change the plate cylinder.
Strong alliances = new technologies
To further enhance this new technology, Codimag teamed with Esko to combine Aniflo Ink System with Esko's Multichromy software, which means that the advantages of traditional offset or flexo printing are compared to those of digital printing technology. In combination, a completely new technology has been created beyond traditional narrow web printing technology and digital technology. Codimag has promoted this technology to most users of the Aniflo Ink System. The Esko Equinox software that was previously installed on the digital proofing machine is fully compatible with the Aniflo Ink System, and the collected data can be formatted. According to Esko's internal publication FRAN® OISE COUDERT, this cooperation has been a great success. The most important feature of Epson software technology is its ability to obtain continuous and stable ink colors, which are not only required by most brands, but also are important for reducing waste and shortening processes for short-run orders.
The combination of Vivid Software and Aniflo is characterized by more stable quality. If the customer has a series of different orders, the operator only needs to change the printing plate when the order is changed. It does not need to clean the rollers and replace the ink, which means that more colors can be accurately reproduced by using a few colors of ink. All of these are beyond the reach of traditional offset printing technology. Utilizing Epox software allows you to calculate the actual ink usage in the pre-press design to accurately supply the ink, which saves ink and print preparation time. The software itself is very complicated, but it is very easy and convenient to use in the printing shop.
Totally single = whole replacement?
Now, almost every processor of narrow offset or flexo equipment is thinking about the question: Will digital printing replace all printing methods? Will it subvert the world? Codimag President Pascal Duchêne told everyone: “It has been calculated that for any label printing order, as long as the total printing length exceeds 500 meters (1640 inches), the printing cost with the Viva Aniflo waterless offset press is higher than the most popular digital printing press on the market today.
