According to the latest trade data from the U.S. Census Bureau, recycled paper exports will fall by 11% year-on-year in 2024, and scrap plastic exports will fall by about 2%.

According to the latest trade data from the U.S. Census Bureau, recycled paper exports will fall by 11% year-on-year in 2024, and scrap plastic exports will fall by about 2%.
The U.S. exported 13.3 million short tons of recycled fiber for the year, down from 14.8 million short tons in 2023.
India imported 2.3 million short tons, accounting for 17% of total U.S. fiber exports. Mexico was the second largest importer with 2 million short tons, followed by Thailand (2 million short tons), Malaysia (1.9 million short tons), Vietnam (1.4 million short tons), Canada (991,000 short tons), South Korea (548,000 short tons), Taiwan (410,000 short tons) and China (403,000 short tons).
In terms of export grades, OCC accounted for the largest proportion at 68%, mixed paper accounted for 15%, high-grade deinking paper accounted for 10%, newsprint accounted for 3%, bleached pulp cardboard waste and mechanical pulp waste accounted for 4%.
