The second in the country! Jiangsu Nantong Printing General Factory Co., Ltd. passes the multi-machine C9 evaluation
In mid-October, the China Academy of Printing Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as "CAPST") conducted a two-day multi-press C9 evaluation at Jiangsu Nantong Printing General Factory Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Nantong Printing General Factory"). Three presses in the factory's offset printing workshop successfully passed the evaluation, making Nantong Printing General Factory the second company in the country, after Anhui Xinhua Printing Co., Ltd., to receive multi-press C9 evaluation qualification.
Founded in 1952, this long-established printing and cultural enterprise has weathered 73 years of changing times. In 2021, it formed a strategic partnership and resource integration with a cultural enterprise directly under Jiangsu Phoenix Media Group, steadily growing into a digitally scaled printing enterprise with fixed assets and annual output value close to 100 million yuan. Relying on its deep industry experience and continuous innovation, Nantong Printing General Factory has won numerous prestigious awards, including the China Printing Grand Award, the first Jiangsu Province Printing Duplication Award, the first batch of National Green Printing Environmental Label Product Certifications, the national AAA credit rating for printing enterprises, Jiangsu Province "Model Printing Enterprise," and "Key Cultural and Technological Enterprise of Jiangsu Province," demonstrating its strong capabilities and excellent reputation within the industry.
From Single Press to Multi-Press:
The Quality Commitment Behind the C9 Evaluation
As early as 2023, Nantong Printing General Factory successfully passed the C9 single-press evaluation. Over two years, the frequency of color inspections for its printed products significantly increased, accuracy improved by 30%, and the sample pass rate rose from 92% to 98%. At the same time, young key employees accounted for more than 50% of the workforce, and production rework rates were greatly reduced, effectively lowering production costs and gaining deep trust from core clients. "The C9 evaluation has truly made us feel the core value of standardized production. It not only provides the enterprise with a scientific production management framework but also strengthens our confidence to pursue a more advanced multi-press evaluation," said the company's production manager when discussing the results of the C9 evaluation.

Compared with single-machine evaluations, multi-machine C9 evaluation not only imposes strict requirements on the printing accuracy and color consistency of individual machines, but also poses a significant challenge to the standardization and uniformity of production across multiple machines. This means that the enterprise must elevate deviation control in all aspects-equipment commissioning, process optimization, and personnel operation-to a new level of standardized management, ensuring comprehensive quality stability in cross-machine production.
For this multi-machine evaluation, Nantong Printing General Factory began preparations six months in advance: a special task force was established, working with equipment manufacturers to calibrate each participating printing machine one by one, ensuring highly consistent control parameters for pressure, speed, and ink volume on every machine; technical staff were organized for specialized training, focusing on tackling difficult issues such as multi-machine color matching and alignment of prints across devices; leveraging a new MES system, a real-time monitoring platform for multi-machine color and quality was built to collect production data from all machines in real-time, with immediate alerts and adjustments upon detecting deviations. This series of solid measures laid a strong foundation for the company to successfully pass the multi-machine C9 evaluation.

C9 Qualification Is Not the Endpoint:
Empowering High-Quality Industry Development with C9 Standards
"For us, undergoing the C9 multi-machine evaluation is not the end, but a new starting point toward higher quality development," said Qiu Peiying, General Manager of Nantong Printing General Factory. Since its founding in 1952, Nantong Printing General Factory has demonstrated the new vitality of a long-established enterprise through 73 years of dedication and innovation. In the future, it will continue to focus on 'youthfulness, digital intelligence, and premium quality' as its development direction, using C9 standards as the baseline for quality, contributing to the high-quality development of the publishing and printing industry.
Meanwhile, the China Printing Science Research Institute will further strengthen the technical support and services for printing enterprises, helping more companies understand and apply the C9 evaluation system through training, technical exchanges, and other activities.
In addition, the institute will continue to advance the iterative optimization of the C9 evaluation system, closely aligning with technological innovation and market demand, constantly improving the evaluation system, and enabling printing enterprises to accurately grasp market trends.
