The 2026 National Reading Week 'Fragrant April' special event was launched in Beijing
On March 19, the 2026 National Reading Week 'Fragrant April Days' special event, jointly launched by the China Academy of Press and Publication and multiple news publishing units and reading organizations, was announced in Beijing.

The year 2026 is a milestone year for nationwide reading initiatives. The "Regulations on the Promotion of Nationwide Reading," which officially came into effect on February 1, clearly designate the fourth week of April each year as Nationwide Reading Week. The 2026 Nationwide Reading Week themed activity, "Fragrant April of Books," is designed to implement the Regulations on the Promotion of Nationwide Reading, unite efforts from all sectors involved in nationwide reading, encourage more readers to participate, and focus on creating a nationwide reading event that is "policy-implemented, industry mutually beneficial, and shared by all."
The 2026 Nationwide Reading Week themed activity "Fragrant April of Books" focuses on four major aspects: innovative activity promotion, media topic guidance, claiming reading gift packs, and sharing reading life. From April 16 to May 5, key reading brand project launch events will be held nationwide, along with reading benefit activities such as the "Reading Gift Pack Book Festival" offering free books and discounts, the "My Reading Story" reading showcase, book fairs, and reading marathons as part of the "Reading Carnival". Through these four series of diverse reading activities and online-offline interaction, a rich cultural atmosphere for Nationwide Reading Week will be created.
The first batch of jointly initiating organizations collectively issued a call, urging more publishing institutions, digital platforms, content service providers, physical bookstores, and reading institutions to actively participate and work together to build a new ecosystem for nationwide reading.

The first batch of joint initiating units for this event includes: China Academy of Press and Publication, China Publishing Association, People's Literature Publishing House, China News Publishing Media Group, China Publishing Media Business Daily, CCTV.com, CNR Cloud Listening, Book Fragrance China, CITIC Publishing Group, Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, JD.com, 中文在线 (Chinese Online), FanShu APP (formerly Fan Deng Book Club), Tencent Interactive Entertainment Social Value Exploration Center, Zhongshu Ge, Beijing Hipps Company, Tao Fen Foundation Reading Organization Working Committee, and other twenty institutions.
