Four Years of Comeback: Hongcheng Packaging Goes from Millions in Debt to Paving the Path of Entrepreneurship
In the packaging industry of Haining City, the entrepreneurial story of Zheng Jianliang, general manager of Hongcheng Packaging Co., Ltd., has become a celebrated tale. He started his business with a loan of one million yuan and faced many difficulties, but eventually turned the company from loss to profit and repaid all external debts. Not only did he accomplish a remarkable business turnaround, but he also concretely demonstrated the weight of responsibility contained in the words 'quality, credibility, service.'

From 'Difficult Year-End' to Finding the Right Direction2010 was a major turning point in Zheng Jianliang's life. At that time, the packaging company he worked for faced layoffs because the boss closed the workshop, and his family had just finished building a house with over a hundred thousand yuan in debt. Life's pressures were constant. In the midst of confusion, encouragement from a client in Jiashan, saying 'Why not try opening your own factory?' ignited his entrepreneurial spirit. Thus, Hongcheng Packaging, focusing on cardboard box production, came into being. The journey of entrepreneurship was full of thorns. In the first year of starting the factory, Zheng Jianliang went everywhere raising money to rent a factory, borrowing equipment, traveling to find clients and get orders. Despite working year-round without rest, he incurred a loss of 80,000 yuan. 'While others were joyfully celebrating the New Year, I hid in my room wanting to see no one,' Zheng Jianliang still recalls that difficult 'year-end.' However, the support of his family gave him strength; his wife's act of giving the remaining family savings helped him regain his determination. On the first day of work in 2011, he finally resolved to forge ahead with the development direction of 'relentlessly focusing on product quality and service quality.'

Using Two Years of Perseverance to Open the Door to Clients' Hearts"In business, you must first be a good person; only if people trust you can you go far." This has been Zheng Jianliang's guiding principle on his entrepreneurial journey. To secure an order from a stroller manufacturer in Jiaxing, he persisted in visiting them every week for two whole years without fail. This dedication eventually won over the client, earning him a trial opportunity for half of the order, which later became a pivotal step in securing a large contract.During that period, Zheng Jianliang and his wife often woke up at 5 a.m. to drive the delivery truck. To ensure supply for their clients in Jiashan, they would set off around five or six in the morning and had to return to the factory before 9 a.m. to continue production, with rice dumplings becoming the most common food to stave off hunger on the road. It was this relentless spirit that enabled the company to finally achieve a surplus by the end of 2011, taking its first step toward profitability.

Taking Responsibility to Earn Lasting Market Trust"Quality is the bottom line, credibility is the brand, and service is the confidence." These are words frequently spoken by Zheng Jianliang and, more importantly, serve as his guiding principles in action. One morning, a company in Yanguan urgently requested assistance at 8 a.m. and needed a batch of packaging boxes delivered the same day. Zheng immediately coordinated materials and arranged for workers to speed up production, delivering the goods to the client by the afternoon. In 2015, nearing the Spring Festival, a client urgently needed cartons as their original supplier suddenly failed to deliver. Zheng organized his workers to work overtime and successfully completed the order before New Year's Eve. This timely and responsible action earned him the position of the company's exclusive supplier.Over the years, Zheng Jianliang not only repaid the one million yuan loan he had taken to start his business but also introduced automated production lines and purchased two transport trucks, achieving an average daily shipment of three to four trucks and up to seven to eight trucks during peak periods. Reflecting on his entrepreneurial journey, Zheng candidly shared, "My greatest wish now is to maintain quality control and optimize the service chain so that Hongcheng Packaging can navigate the market waves steadily and sustainably."
