Three-dimensional children's book types

I have come into contact with and produced many children's books, which are very varied and creative. There is almost no way to describe exactly one by one. The following is a general classification I made myself, and I can only classify and describe some common children's activity books and pop-up books: Relatively simple, basically without structure and dolls, the text is only a single sheet (organ fold) or framed forming:
Copperplate painting: the easiest. The text is about 80~120g coated paper printing, 120~200g single powder card or double powder card (the mainland is called single-sided or double-sided coated paper, like?) Do the cover. The selling point is beautiful graphic printing and short and concise drawing stories. Ten pages of riding binding binding, or snake ring, or iron coil binding, more pages will be glued. It's just beautifully illustrated and printed, and there are no distinguishable personalities and characteristics beyond that (at best, a hardcover hardcover). Bookstores now basically sell such children's books.
Ordinary hard card: the text and cover are 200g~500g gray-bottom cardboard or single powder cardboard. Basically, it is also printed, die-cut and formed, padded trimming, corner shipping. Reading age from three to eight years old. The younger the age, the thicker the paper used (three-year-old + reading materials are basically two pages with a two- or three-millimeter gray board), in order to avoid small objects (European and American children's toy standards), suffocation or physical injury caused by children's swallowing (not long ago, the source of the large-scale recall of Chinese toys in the United States was that the magnets in the toys fell off into small objects, which were swallowed by children to create injuries). The general text is about ten pages. Generally, they are square rounded corners, mainly beautiful patterns and short stories.
Hard card punching class: further formal development of hard card books. Use custom-shaped knife molds to punch the entire book into different shapes: telephones, cars, animal shapes, etc. Accompanied by a corresponding pictorial storyline. Or cut out holes in the text according to the pattern in part, and connect the front and back patterns to form a storyline. Further, the text of each page is punched separately, and the shape of each page is different. The punching shape can be before or after the lamination, and the punching and cutting before the joining plate is generally more complex in shape, or the material is different, and the requirements for the shape accuracy of the knife mold and the later hinge alignment requirements are relatively high; The cut of the whole book is relatively flat and unified, but it is limited to the manufacturing process of the knife mold, and the shape cannot be too complicated.
Hard card sticker, unveiling: also belongs to the development form of hard card. Stickers or unveiling are added to the text of the hard card book. The difference between the post card and the unveiling page, the sticker card is added and pasted later; The unveiling page is formed by cutting and pressing the text itself (in this case, the printed pattern of the framed page is required on both sides). Both forms disguise the pattern on the text through the pattern of stickers or unveiling pages, and "uncover" the mystery by flipping it with hands. Further, a small doll is pasted under the sticker, which is displayed when opened to add some fun.
Hard card touch class: Touch class is a large type of hard card books. There are holes (not transparent piercings) in the text of the book, and different accessories are pasted according to the pattern or storyline, and the type of accessories depends entirely on the imagination of the designer. For example, if the fruit is introduced, paste different glitter foil, imitation paper, rubber skin according to the color texture of different fruits; When introducing animals, paste all kinds of plush similar to animal fur. There are also touch e-books, with additional sounding electronic boxes and hidden sounding electronic categories. The additional class is to attach an electronic box with buttons to the book, and press different buttons according to the color or content of the pattern in the book, and there will be a sound or flash. Hidden, similar in appearance to ordinary hard cards, except that there are pre-embedded electronic circuits inside the page connected to the touch point, press different contacts, and the hidden sound electrons will make corresponding sounds according to the design, such as animal chirping, background music, content introduction, etc. The add-on type is generally used for lower age groups, while the hidden type is suitable for older ages or more advanced complex content.
Puzzle class: It also belongs to the development of hard card class, and there is a puzzle form in the text. There are more layers of a single page (at least three layers of color printing surface, medium sandwich and color printing bottom page), and the production process is slightly more complicated. First of all, the color printing surface die-cut folded and the middle sandwich layer is framed, and pressed and dehumidified. Then use the knife mold to punch the puzzle (at this time, pay attention to the details of the knife mold to punch the knife edge, the puzzle must be formed but must not be scattered, because there is no plate), and then the color printing page is combined into a book, cutting the edges and corners. This is a puzzle with patterns, stories, and hands-on puzzles (the complexity of the puzzle is adjusted according to the set age group). At present, there are large pieces of puzzles sold everywhere in bookstores, but puzzle books do not seem to be available. Stage type, there is an active structure or a more complex production process
Push and pull card class: The higher and more complex type of hard card class. It can be roughly divided into the middle of the page of the book to push and pull, the text can be pulled from the middle, and there is a card in the middle to connect the text on both sides, and the pattern on the middle card can be reasonably connected with the pattern of the original text. The fan-shaped push-pull card, with the corner of the text as the axis, pulls out a one-page (two-page) fan-shaped card, which is also a reasonable color connection and expansion of the storyline. The handle is similar to a push and pull card, and there are pullable handles around the perimeter of the text, pulling the push and pull card hidden in the inner folder, or changing the pattern of the window in the text, or expanding the pattern story. Basically, a push-pull method corresponds to a set of relatively fixed knife line design templates, die-cutting and mounting processes. Since the connection of pattern colors is always emphasized during the push and pull process, the process is very demanding. First of all, the paper (which needs to be glued and decomposed many times), then the strict die-cutting position (which directly determines whether the pattern can be connected), the front and back mounting cards and the text are framed (the position of the framed needle also determines whether the color can be connected). Craftsmanship is the key to determining such structures, and structural design is not decisive.
Double-layer sticker perspective class: This is a name I set myself, the structure is described as follows: 200g to 300g of cardboard production, the text single page or organ fold (the whole text is made of one or more strips directly die-cut and formed, directly connected, flush back and forth folding, glue on the spine of the folded line, glued into shapes, the cutting edge is only cut up and down, the cover is generally equipped with a leather shell), and one or two more layers of stickers are added to the text, the length of the sticker is three to five centimeters shorter than the length of the text (the width is variable), and the middle line of the fold is the same as the text, The sticker barge is located at the mouth of the text. When opened, because the sticker is shorter than the text, the layer is formed due to the difference in size (the outermost sticker is completely opened to 180 degrees, the second layer of the sticker is only about 160 degrees surface, and the opening angle of the text is smaller), the front and rear stickers are drawn as the foreground and middle of the storyline, and the text draws the background or vista, with the corresponding graphics, you can form a layered stage-style depth perspective effect. Many times, the entire book will be designed to open all the text at the same time, and the back cover is affixed to form a marquee-like cylinder that can be rotated and watched, more like a sitcom. The details of the process are to pay attention to the splicing design of the sticker and the inner text barge.
Step folding class: According to the design of the pattern in the text, multiple polylines and unclosed tangents are set in parallel, and the start and end points of the tangent must be connected with the folded line. The tangent lines form the shape of various pattern images, and the folded lines are folded according to their respective horizontal positions to form different layers before and after, achieving a depth effect. However, this type of design can only have a three-dimensional effect when the pages are opened at 90°, and after flattening, because the folded lines are all flattened, there is no effect. Moreover, there are a large number of staggered knife edges and broken lines on the page, and the production process is simple, and die-cutting is formed, but the later process of folding lines (determining forward or reverse to determine the most layered effect) is more cumbersome.
