In prepress production, you often encounter text problems. Generally, the text that appears in the image processing software is usually processed as an image when the RIP is output. The probability of occurrence of a problem is much smaller, and the text used in the typesetting software is processed by RIP for text information. The fonts installed in the RIP match, and problems such as text jumps, skip characters, discoloration, garbled characters, etc. are prone to occur at this time.
To use text in typesetting software, you first need to match the fonts installed in the RIP in the photo system, so that there is no possibility of problems when outputting. If you are exporting externally and you are using a font that may not be available in RIP in your production document, you will need to copy all the words, including Postscript fonts, to the output center when copying the document to the output center.
In order to prevent text jumps, when making a document, try not to use the space bar to adjust the position of the text. When you need to adjust the position of the text, you can use the following methods:
1. Disconnect the text when you need to use a space, re-define a text box below the text, and continue typing. This method can be used in Freehand and Pagemaker software.
2. You can use the indentation, positioning method to define the position of the text to avoid the use of spaces. This method is more suitable for the paragraph header of the entire paragraph of text; in the Page-maker software, it can be combined with the "Tab" key; Freehand 5.0 and later versions can be used.
3. In Freehand software, for a small number of texts using Truetype fonts, the text can be converted to a path (more convenient in Freehand 5.0 and above) and then realigned. The disadvantage of this method is that after the text is converted into a path, the modification is very troublesome, and the edges of some large characters are not good.
4. Try not to use the same line and forcibly in the Pagemaker. When mixing Chinese and English, use manual adjustment of the word spacing to complete the alignment.
Sometimes in the typesetting, we will encounter the situation of Simplified and Traditional mixing. At this time, due to the difference in kerning between some simplified and traditional fonts, it causes the phenomenon of skipping. In the Freehand software, the Truetype font is converted to a path, and the jump word can be clearly seen. The way to deal with this situation is to cut off the text in a simplified and traditional place and treat it as two paragraphs of text.
The phenomenon of skipping words also occurs when the word is changed. When different fonts are replaced between different types of words (such as Chinese-language Song Jian and Han Yizhong Song Jian), it is easy to jump characters and need to be checked carefully. The replacement of different fonts in the same character, the possibility of jumping characters is much smaller, but still can not be taken lightly. Generally, the same type of Truetype word and Postscript word are interchangeable, and there is no jumping phenomenon, such as Hanyi and Wending. However, some words, such as Huayuan, have different descriptions of font, line spacing and kerning for Truetype and Postscript. After swapping, the probability of jumping characters is very high.
In addition, when making files across platforms, since many words on the PC and MAC platforms have different kerning and line spacing descriptions on the fonts, it is easy to cause jump words.
When using CorelDraw software to typeset, you need to pay attention to the use of high version to open the files produced by the lower version, which is prone to jump characters. When outputting files, you need to check the files carefully.
Use Pagemaker software to make a file. If a file is made in a simplified version and uses a layout in the layout, when you need to open the file with the traditional version, the layout name in the layout will be garbled; When you output a simplified version of a file, it is easy to encounter an inexplicable Postscript error, and the output is interrupted.
The Pagemaker software on the PC platform supports the graphics file of CorelDraw, but the Pagemaker software running on the MAC platform does not support it. Therefore, when the Pagemaker software on the PC platform is created on the MAC, the file containing the CorelDraw graphics will be wrong. .
There are two main types of text discoloration in the typesetting software: one is to convert the text into a path in Freehand 3.1 software. If the color of the paragraph is different, the color will become the same after being converted into a path. This situation no longer occurs in Freehand 5.0 and above; there is also a case where some fonts are used in CorelDraw software, such as blackbody, etc., the output may appear white on the film at the intersection of the strokes, so be careful You can convert the text to a curve before the output to check for leaks.
The last thing to introduce is to insert the "line in the map" method when the Pagemaker software arranges the text. When you need to insert a graphic in a line of text, you can't make a space in the text, and then put the graphic in the space position, so it is easy to jump the word, and when you modify the text, you need to constantly change the position of the graphic to align the space. Very inconvenient. Inserting a graphic into a text can be done as follows:
1. Place the graphic into a file and zoom to the desired size;
2. Cut the graphics (CUT);
3. Select the text input tool and click on the location you want to place;
4. Place the graphic in the (PASTE) document and adjust the position with the mouse.
