How to ensure the stability of digital printing and make customer praise to a higher level!
For Indian companies, efficient production equipment is important, but also stable print quality. For example, image printing is one of the most important application fields of digital printing, and graduation albums, personalized desk calendars, photo books, etc. are favored by the market every year, but if the printed products have problems such as insufficient color saturation, color cast, and poor clarity, the printing effect will be very poor, and it will not be able to achieve the purpose of attracting customers and cultivating the market. Therefore, in the process of digital printing, it is necessary to adopt effective methods to detect and control the quality of digital printed materials.
Document quality control
01
Color mode
When you get your customer data files, you should first check their color patterns, which is especially important in color printing. In digital printing, spot color printing is commonly used because it can meet the individual needs of customers. Before spot color printing, it is necessary to set the spot color, that is, it is necessary to choose whether to directly use spot color ink for printing or convert the spot color to CMYK color for printing.
02
File format
Digital printing is best to receive files in common print file formats such as PDF or PS. Layout size is the net size of the printed document. Also, be sure to ensure that the large version of the file is the correct size, otherwise it may be reworked and reprinted during post-processing.
03
Edition content
The basic components of the center include text, images and graphics. In terms of text, the most common problem is font matching. When the font used in the client's document is not available, it is necessary to negotiate with the client to replace the font, or the customer will provide the relevant font file, or let the customer embed the font in the PDF file when generating it. In terms of graphics, since it belongs to vector information, it is generally necessary to pay attention to color mode and file format.
04
Image content
In terms of images, the image resolution needs to be controlled first, the general color image resolution should be at least 300dpi, grayscale images generally require 600dpi, and black and white line drafts are required to be 1200dpi; Secondly, the color mode of the color image should be CMYK, and it is best to ensure that the output is in TIFF lossless compression format, which is convenient for imaging printing and is more conducive to the perfect reproduction of image quality.
Raw material control
01
paper
With the development of technology, digital printing puts forward higher requirements for the physical and chemical properties, mechanical properties and optical properties of paper. For example, in digital printing, the thickness of the paper is required to be uniform, so as not to affect the uniformity of the printing ink color; The paper surface is as smooth as possible and there are few pinholes; It is necessary to have a certain tensile strength and tearing degree to prevent hair loss and powder loss in high-speed digital printing equipment; The higher the opacity of paper for magazines and books, the better, and the paper used for printed materials such as labels and bills of lading as long as there is no transparent printing, etc.
02
Ink
Inks also play a crucial role in digital print quality. Digital printing has high requirements for ink gloss; It is required that the ink film remains stable under the erosion of water, oil, solvents and other substances, so as to avoid discoloration and fading when encountering water and oil and other substances; Some digital prints are sometimes exposed to sunlight for a long time, so the ink is required to have good light fastness; It also requires stability in terms of pH, conductivity, viscosity, permeability, surface tension, density, and color difference, which can be compatible with printing technology and is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
After checking the above content, there is another step that should not be forgotten, before production, first of all, a comprehensive color calibration should be carried out, and then the test sample should be printed, and the content of the test sample should be checked and recorded. As with traditional printing equipment, the calibration of digital printing equipment can also be carried out by controlling parameters such as overprinting accuracy, density, chromaticity, gray balance, and dot enlargement. Equipment calibration also includes: color correction, ink density correction, ink conductivity correction, automatic pressure correction, etc.
Compared with traditional printing equipment, digital printing machines have stricter environmental requirements, and their print quality is more susceptible to environmental impact. This is because changes in ambient temperature and humidity will affect the normal transfer of ink, and will also cause paper deformation, affecting the paper flow and overprinting during the printing process. In addition, environmental dust levels can also affect the performance of inks and papers, which can affect the color uniformity of digital prints. Therefore, in order to better control the printing quality of digital prints, a separate workshop should be set up for digital printing machines, and special air conditioning, dehumidification and humidification systems, and ventilation devices should be configured. The temperature of the workshop should be controlled at 23~27°C, the humidity should be controlled at 40%~60%, and the production environment should be kept clean. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to reducing the entry and exit of personnel, and close the door at any time to keep the workshop environment stable and lay the foundation for the stability of printed products.
