In recent years, in response to the continuously changing consumer environment, digital printing equipment suppliers have been constantly innovating, upgrading inkjet technology, and achieving significant breakthroughs in print quality, speed, and media applications.
High-speed inkjet printing, which made its debut at drupa 2008, began to gain traction in China in 2018. For a long time, foreign inkjet printing technology has been leading, but equipment prices are high and operating costs are substantial, so it was only installed in a small number of domestic high-end printing enterprises. Industry experts have pointed out that the application of inkjet printing technology represents the biggest opportunity for Chinese printing equipment manufacturers to achieve a leapfrog advantage.

At the 7th China International All-Print Expo, domestically produced monochrome web inkjet printing equipment was showcased for the first time.
**2020**
At the 8th All-Print Expo, digital printing equipment suppliers such as Founder Electronics, Shengde Technology, Yingkejie, Spande, and Hongbo Intelligent collectively exhibited their high-speed inkjet printing products. Domestic web inkjet printing equipment achieved a breakthrough from monochrome to color.
**2020–2021**
New technology has driven new momentum. The continuous improvement in print quality of domestic high-speed inkjet printing equipment, along with its high cost-effectiveness and production flexibility for medium- to short-run jobs, quickly gained market recognition. Since 2019, the annual installation volume of domestic equipment has increased significantly, reaching around 280 units per year in 2020 and 2021.
**2022**
The market's enthusiastic response further encouraged suppliers to actively engage in research and development, continuously expanding their product lines. In 2022, domestic color web inkjet printing equipment and related technologies achieved considerable breakthroughs, with the launch of 1200dpi domestic high-definition color web inkjet printers.
**Second half of 2022–2023**
Many suppliers subsequently launched 1200dpi color web high-speed inkjet printing equipment. The substrates expanded from offset paper and digital offset paper to coated paper, marking a crucial step for the rapid development of high-speed inkjet equipment. Meanwhile, inkjet printing suppliers in the digital label sector also began to make progress, introducing 1200dpi equipment.
The 1200dpi inkjet printing dots are much finer than the 175-line traditional offset dots, setting a new record for the print quality of domestic web inkjet printers. At the same time, compared to offset printing, the break-even point for high-speed inkjet printing in terms of minimum print runs has increased to around 2,000 copies, providing more options for print-on-demand publishing, commercial printing, government printing, and label printing enterprises. The successful application of coated paper printing also accelerates the potential for high-speed inkjet equipment to expand into the packaging sector.
