According to the British "Print Weekly" report, Pantone's cloud-based color management tool for the packaging industry will be available on June 15. This tool enables access to commonly used digital color definitions at all stages of the packaging design process, with the aim of reducing the complexity and rework of packaging designs. It uses Esko's color engine database to manage color and device profiles and supports the color management process for pre-press workflows throughout the package.
The tool comes with a standard library that includes all the colors of the PANTONE PLUS and PANTONE color matching systems, and the brand owner will be able to create specific color palettes and store them in this system, they can also use this The digital library defines color specifications based on the substrate, the printing process, the ink used, and the method of use. Pantone defines each color by spectroscopy and then stores it in this standard library. Designers and prepress workers can access the brand's digital palette using Adobe Illustrator. Prior to prepress, color management is integrated directly into the workflow, making printed colors accurate to documents, proofs, and printing tools before production.
Pantone has established a partnership with Esko and Sun Chemical for this tool, but the tool is not limited to companies that only use Esko workflow solutions or solar chemical inks. Some food and packaging manufacturers have tried the color management tool, and Heinz has used this tool to regulate the color of all the packaging substrates of its soy products; Chesapeake uses the tool to reduce the printing by 84% in one operation. The color difference achieved zero scrap.
